Start with a wired DualSense on Windows 11 x64. Check off each step as you go.

Get the ZIP from Downloads. Choose Extract All in Windows and keep the extracted files together. Read the included setup instructions before opening Aster.exe.
If it is missing, install .NET 10 Windows Desktop Runtime (x64) from Microsoft ↗. Select Windows Desktop Runtime; the standard .NET Runtime alone is not enough.
If ViGEmBus is missing, run the included signed ViGEmBus installer separately and follow its restart prompt if shown. Driver setup requires administrator permission. Extracting the ZIP does not install the driver.
Connect by USB and open Aster.exe. In Controller, choose your device. Select Refresh devices if you just connected it.
Select Connect virtual output, choose your Stick Tuning settings, then Enable processing. Use Input tester to check the result. Virtual output appears as one Xbox 360 controller.
Save your settings. In games that let you choose an input device, select the virtual Xbox 360 controller. Keep a backup of your profiles before an update. For duplicate inputs, see the FAQs.
Checklist progress stays on this page until it is reloaded. Controller support beyond wired DualSense has not yet been validated for this release.

The essentials for Aster and your account.
Do I need to pay to download Aster?
No. A verified free account gives you the Aster download and these guides. Creating an account does not start a subscription or unlock paid features.
How do I sign in or reset my password?
Sign in with your email and password. If you previously used an email link, choose Set your first password on the sign-in page. Choose Forgot password to reset it. Setup and reset links expire in 10 minutes and work once. Sessions last 8 hours, or 30 days if you choose to stay signed in. Changing your password signs out older sessions.
My sign-in email is missing or my link expired.
Check spam and the address you entered. Use the newest email and confirm sign-in in the browser. Request a fresh link if needed; avoid repeated requests because delivery limits apply. If delivery still fails, contact support@astergg.com.
Why does Windows show a security warning?
This Aster release does not have a publisher signing certificate yet. Windows may warn about or block the app. Read the warning and follow your device’s policy. Do not disable Windows protections. The checksum verifies the ZIP matches the offered file; it is not a publisher signature.
How do I check the download?
Download the checksum beside the ZIP. Windows PowerShell’s Get-FileHash command with -Algorithm SHA256 calculates your ZIP’s hash. Compare the full hash with the checksum file. If they differ, do not run that copy; download it again and contact support if the mismatch continues.
Which Windows version and controllers are supported?
This release targets Windows 11 x64 and needs .NET 10 Windows Desktop Runtime (x64). Wired DualSense has development hardware testing; independent validation of this exact customer release on a fresh PC remains pending. DualShock 4, Xbox controller families and Bluetooth are intended support, but are not yet validated for this release. Virtual output is an Xbox 360 controller.
Aster cannot see my controller.
Check the USB cable and connection, then select Refresh devices under Controller. Confirm Windows sees the controller. Close other controller tools that may be taking exclusive control. If you use HidHide, check its application allowlist and device settings against your setup; contact support before changing unfamiliar settings.
Why do I get double inputs in a game?
The game may be reading both your physical controller and Aster’s virtual output. Select only the virtual Xbox 360 controller when the game offers a device choice. Check for another remapping app or Steam Input applying a second mapping. Contact support for help with HidHide if you need to hide the physical device.
Virtual output will not connect.
Check whether ViGEmBus is installed. The signed installer is included but must be run separately. Follow any installer restart prompt, reopen Aster and try Connect virtual output again. Send support the exact error wording if it still fails.
Will updating erase my profiles?
Updates currently use a manual download; Aster has no in-app updater. Save your profiles, finish recordings, stop controller use, disconnect virtual output and close Aster and its helpers. Download the current ZIP and checksum from this account and verify the hash. Keep private backups of your old app folder and Aster data, then extract the complete new package to a temporary folder and replace the app files at the same Aster.exe path. Preserve your local Aster data and do not deactivate membership for an update. Reopen under the same Windows account and verify your profiles and activation before reconnecting output. Keeping the executable path preserves its HidHide allowlist entry. Routine updates do not require another purchase or driver installation.
Can I activate membership in this download?
Yes. With active paid or complimentary access, use the code under Membership to activate Aster. Paid plans are available only when checkout is open. Creating an account alone does not start a subscription.
What is included in Free?
Normal controller input and virtual output, Stick Tuning, calibration, input testing, simulator, report-rate display, profiles, game workspaces and the optional overlay. Button Mapping, Macros, Turbo, Recoil Mapping, Sticky Aim, recording and video analysis remain locked without membership.
Does Free need an activation code?
Free tools do not require a purchase or activation code. Membership features require active paid or complimentary access.

Canceling renewal keeps paid access until its paid-through date unless a refund or other payment change ends it. Complimentary access does not cancel an existing subscription.
Move to another computer
Support reviews transfers. An approved transfer waits for the old offline permit to expire, up to 24 hours. Deactivation alone does not release the computer reservation or cancel billing.
